Ulm lies on the railway line between Stuttgart and Munich and is easy to reach by train from most of the major cities in Germany. Tram line 2 running to “Science Park,” leave every 10 minutes for the university from the main train station. Exit the tram at the “Botanischer Garten” stop and then turn right on to “Helmholtzstraße.”
The closest international airports are in Munich and Stuttgart. There is a regional airport in Augsburg which serves connecting flights from within Germany.
The airports in Munich, Stuttgart and Augsburg all connect to Ulm via ICE (inter-city express), IC (inter-city) or IR (inter-regional) trains.
From Stuttgart or Munich
Exit highway A8 at “Ulm West.” From there drive on the B10 toward Ulm/Friedrichshafen and then exit at “Wissenschaftstadt-Universität.” Turn left at the first intersection onto “Albert-Einstein-Allee” and then leave the roundabout at the third exit and enter Helmholtzstraße.
From Nürnberg or Würzburg
Change from highway A7 at the “Elchingen” interchange to highway A8 toward Stuttgart. Continue by following the above directions (from Stuttgart or Munich).
From Kempten or Memmingen
Exit highway A7 at the “Hittistetten” interchange onto highway B10 toward Ulm. Continue through Ulm and then exit at exit at “Wissenschaftstadt-Universität.” Turn left at the first intersection onto “Albert-Einstein-Allee” and then turn left twice to arrive at “Helmholtzstraße.”
It is possible to park in a parking garage. There is a fee for parking in spaces on the campus of University of Ulm.
