Scientific research has important implications for transferring the current energy-supply system over to sustainable energy sources. The new energy revolution requires, among other things, the wide-spread storage of electrical energy in significant quantities over long time-periods. Efficient energy storage is a fundamental problem that must be solved in order to expand the electromobility market. At the Helmholtz Institute Ulm we have chosen to focus our efforts on contributing solutions to this problem through research in this progressive field. We combine the scientific expertise of four renowned partners under one roof, making us unique among institutions specializing in electrochemical energy storage and allowing for enormous potential through our cooperation with other academic and business institutions.
